Day 112 - 8.8.10 - Bayside Ain't Just a Fictional High School in California

Bayside Resort Golf Course rests along the marshy edges of the Assawoman Bay (seriously) in Fenwick Island, Delaware. Blayne and I teed it up early in the morning and did our best to beat par on each of Jack Nicklaus' expertly designed holes. Jack bested us more often than not. Water, wetlands, traps, and forest awaited us on every hole. Landing areas were present, but narrowed and became more treacherous with distance. Wisely, the drivers stayed in the bag, and we attempted to stay on the short grass as much as possible. It was a beautiful round on a beautiful day, the kind of round that makes you want to grab a quick bite for lunch and knock out another eighteen holes... and go another 36 the next day.

Day 111 - 8.7.10 - Jilly's Photo Op

With the rugrats running around, photo opportunities are plentiful...

Day 110 - 8.6.10 - A Smirk From Madison

After an incredibly smooth and ahead of schedule flight from Chicago to DC, and a drive filled with beach going vacation traffic, we finally washed ashore in North Bethany Beach, Delaware. As the unpacking commenced, the little ladies threw on a DVD to keep them occupied while the adults did the heavy lifting. Jillian (background) was more entertained with the discs themselves, while Madison was completely dazzled by the action on the computer. As I tried to earn her attention and coax a smile, she gave me this smirk. It was all she was willing to offer. Fischer Price Little People Happy Birthday DVD: 1 - Uncle D: 0.

Day 109 - 8.5.10 - Edison Park (The NW Side's Own Little Italy)

Tomorrow Lauren and I head east and fly to Washington D.C. on the first leg of our trip to the Delaware shores. Our flight leaves very early in the morning, so we packed up and traveled to Park Ridge to stay the night and be closer to O'Hare in the morning. Abutting Park Ridge to the east is Edison Park, a neighborhood on the city's NW side that is peppered with Italian restaurants. You have Zia's, Moretti's, Nonno Pino's, and Tony's, all within one block on NW Highway. All are pretty solid, especially Tony's which has great Italian sandwiches. Tonight, we opted for take out from Nonno Pino's, and I'm so stuffed I can barely type... Pasta coma. Good thing the only item on tonight's schedule is a viewing of the modern sociological experiment that is MTV's Jersey Shore.

Day 108 - 8.4.10 - Plantlife

I have nothing much to offer other than this plant is turning out to be pretty fantastic. I assure you the mundane subject matter of late will liven up, as the Grady family vacation is fast approaching... The Gradys are about to take the Nation's first state by storm.

Day 107 - 8.3.10 - Cold Kickin' It Live

Ozzie lounging... it was a slow day, even for a stay at home dog.

Day 106 - 8.2.10 - Lost Under the Lights

More Wrigley shots, this time captured from a left field corner rooftop. It is fitting that these pictures appear dark... the Cubs suffered an 18-1 loss at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers. One of the worst losses in franchise history... Another season down the drain, another summer's hopes dashed... Wait 'till next year...

Day 104 - 8.1.10 - My Girls

My nieces Madison and Jillian have been back in Illinois for the past couple of days, and today I went out to Elgin for a play date with my 2 favorite little ladies. On Friday, Lauren and I will head out East to their territory for a little family vacation. I expect they will be the subjects for many photos in the next couple of weeks. Each time I get to spend time with them, I'm astonished by the amount of personality and intelligence that they develop... they are quite a pair.

Day 103 - 7.31.10 - A Cactus in an Egg Shell

For weeks, Lauren and I have been attempting to coax some growth out of these eggshells that we picked up at the Museum of Contemporary Art's Gift Shop. Finally, after many mini-waterings and much hand wringing, my cactus has emerged from the shell. Lauren's plant, lavender I think, is not faring so well, but hope abounds...

Day 102 - 7.30.09 - Duchamp's Neighbor

View to the North, from Duchamp's outdoor area...
